A Few Words About the History of Normanton Traders
Normanton Foodworks is owned through a partnership between the Gulf Regional Economic Aboriginal Trust and BYNOE. Both organisations are social enterprises with similar goals in particular developing sustainable communities through leading edge economic development initiatives.
Bynoe CACS was established to provide affordable housing to local Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people. Bynoe CACS continues to provide quality housing as well as delivering several other community-orientated services.
Prior to the creation of GREAT the organisation was founded as the Aboriginal Development Benefits Trust (ADBT) and was established under the Gulf Communities Agreement (GCA) negotiated between Century Mine, Queensland State Government and Gulf Native Title groups and was established to administer negotiated funds from the Century Mine, primarily for business development and indigenous ownership/investment in business. ADBT and now GREAT is an economic development organisation (entrepreneurial) and one of the most capable and successful in the country, black or white.
